This is not a story for everyone. The main characters are homosexual/bisexual, and while not overly graphic in that respect, this is ultimately a study of desire, so not everyone will be comfortable with some of the subject matter.
Delany is also experimenting with form in this novel, and while the result is spectacular in my opinion, it may also be more complex than some people would normally like. I am particularly impressed with his ability to skim over and through reams of technological, cultural, and historical information through the narrator's own commentary and observation, without bogging down the story, giving the reader a very real taste of the worlds his characters inhabit.
Overall Stars is, as was Triton, an amazing, very unique novel, and I am extremely impressed with Delany's skill and ability to explore the topics he tackles.
